Pizza might just be my favourite meal of all time.
It never used to be. But the whole, living in London, being too lazy to cook thing seems to have steered me in one direction: on the hunt for the perfect slice.
ICYMI, I also wrote an article for Time Out on pizza slices, so that about sums up where I’m at in life right now.
Anyways, as most journalism works, you don’t necessarily get to try all of the amazing place you write about. So after doing my digging on the pizza scene, I knew I had to get myself in to try Homeslice pizza. And now? It might be my new favourite place.
With a variety of locations in London, we visited the Covent Garden Neal’s Yard spot. It’s bright and fun and definitely the type of place I’d like to pop into and grab a seat on a Friday night.
We went on a Monday afternoon while my dad was visiting when we thought it would be fairly easy to get a table. I always find in London that for restaurants that don’t take reservations, your best bet is to always go as a pair. Four people means long wait times, which is cool if you’re not in a rush, and three is always an odd number for seating. Two? It’s just right.
So on a Monday afternoon, we took our chances on a table for three and someone managed. We were lucky, the rest of the seats filled in almost immediately after us. This, I find to be a good sign. A full restaurant has to be good right?
It was.
We decided to go big or go home. A 20″ pizza split in half. One half a classic margherita and one half salami, rocket and parmesan.
Why hello there gorgeous.
And a BIG mug of beer, because Mondays.
And now I want pizza and beer again…
