Last Saturday I went to Brighton to visit Sara. She left to go stateside this week and we wanted to have a little get together before the holidays.
Naturally, this led to a day of catching up over lunching.
Since Brighton is known for being quirky and housing most of the vegan community, I knew we’d end up somewhere very interesting for lunch.
The last time I was in Brighton we went to Idyea, a restaurant known for amazing veggie and vegan dishes. And it was brilliant.
But we wanted to try somewhere new this time, and since Sara is practically vegan these days, we went to another popular place called Wai Kika Moo Kau. With a name like that, how could we resist?
So we ventured in to try it out.
We took a seat and skimmed through the menu. We both opted for fresh juices, finally deciding on Ginger, Lime and Orange.

And me, going for a more normal picture…
But the juices were average at best. We had much better when we hit up The Riding House Café in London for brunch.
Also, our server forgot that we ordered two, so we eventually asked for the other. It was one of those days.
But it was forgiven when our food arrived.
I ordered the Veggie Chili with rice as a vegan option meal. When in Rome, right?
And Sara went for the burrito filled with rice and veggie chili. Essentially, we picked the same meal, different presentation.
And not to be left out, she ordered some tortilla chips and dips.
The food was good, but I think it may have been because we were so hungry.
I think that if you’re in Brighton, I’d skip over Wai Kika Moo Kau and head to Idyea if you’re looking for your veggie fix.
Regardless of our experience, I think it’s always good to try new places out because you never know what will turn into your favorite.

This place looks great, my brother lives in Brighton with his family and I have been a couple of times. Not so easy to get to since we live in the States now. I love the name of your blog too!
Aw thanks for the blog love! I enjoy the occasional explanation that a flat is an apartment… but it comes with the territory. Next time you’re in Brighton visiting your brother if you’re craving vegan/veg dishes check out a place called Idyea. In my opinion it is way better than the Wai Kika Moo Kau. The link below is my review of the other place. Probably not useful until your travels, but always good to keep in mind! X
