London to Brussels

Time to travel.

It’s been an incredibly busy, but amazing weekend. 

For one of my Christmas presents, J booked us in for a weekend getaway to Brussels on the Eurostar. It was perfect timing. The holidays were well behind us, and things were slowing down in London. It’s nearing the end of January and it’s about the time you get a little bit stir crazy. You’re absolutely ready to see somewhere new.

Enter Brussels.

Neither of us had ever traveled on the Eurostar, and there’s no time like the present to try new experiences, right?

So we left our flat very early on Friday morning and headed to St. Pancras train station. I was giddy, I barely needed my usual coffee (lies, I still and always need it). 

Rumor has it that you need to arrive about 45-60 minutes before your journey. We arrived about 35 minutes before. I’d suggest leaving at least that as we were definitely hurrying to make it through security. We had just enough time to grab a coffee before boarding the train. The next time we travel via St. Pancras, I’d say an extra five or ten minutes is necessary. I hate rushing and it would have been great to have a leisurely morning getting there.

PS. Did you know it only takes two hours to get from London to Brussels by Eurostar? It was so much easier than worrying about getting out to Heathrow or Gatwick airport. And within two hours you’ve traveled through three countries! (England to France to Belgium).
