Looking out the window at the pouring rain on Sunday morning hadn’t inspired the festive vibes I’d been seeking out when I planned my visit to the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge.
But a quick few hours later the sunshine was poking through the sky, the clouds miraculously parting… and I couldn’t help but start feeling like my holly, jolly self again.
Because for those of you that didn’t know, there’s a new Winter Wonderland in town. And it lives on London’s famous Southbank walk. Yep! Finally an alternative to making your way through the depths of Hyde Park in the middle of the winter.
It’s like a tiny German market village has popped up out of nowhere, transforming the Southbank into a true winter haven. And it’s fun. You walk through market stalls and, of course a Christmas tree forest, then bam! There’s the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge. I didn’t actually realise it was going to be quite so massive, but it sits over two storeys and is home to two hopping bars. Including both ciders and other beverages – just for the record.
So right, it’s a super cool Cider Lodge, obviously… but why should you visit? Well, I’ve got the four reasons on why you need to make the trip down.
4 reasons to visit the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge on London’s Southbank
1. Spiced Plum Mulled Cider
I know, you’re rolling your eyes back because it’s so obvious. But it had to be the first thing! I’m going to tell you a secret. I don’t actually like mulled cider. I’ve always gone to Christmas markets and tried to be a good sport and try it out. But no, I’ve never actually been keen on it.
Until last winter. Because I actually tried Rekorderlig’s Spiced Plum. And it was dreamy. It combines rich cherry and a mix of spices including clove and cinnamon, resulting in a warming and unique taste. Honestly? It’s the only mulled cider I’ll even consider drinking. Bonus: that’s the only mulled cider you can get there. The Rekorderlig Cider Lodge has it flowing like there’s no tomorrow.
Oh, and it’s served in these little mugs, which you can keep if you like, but you can also return them to the bar and get £2 back. Fun fact for you if you don’t fancy carrying a mug around all afternoon.
2. The incredible London views
If it’s a little basic to get giddy over London landmarks, then I’m as basic as they come. I squealed in delight when we found chairs on the upper patio of the Lodge where I could overlook the London Eye. You can also see the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben (albeit under construction – soz).
3. The Cider Lodge atmosphere
It was absolutely heaving on a Sunday afternoon, but surprisingly, there was space for everyone. Inside, the lodge is packed with tables and chairs for those who’re craving a little respite from the cold. And on the upper patio deck, even more chairs overlooking the Christmas market and landmarks.
But the interesting thing was, the atmosphere. Everyone was there to have a good time. There was laughing around every corner, couples cosying together to stay warm, friends cheersing their mulled ciders, the bartenders even looked like they were having a good day too.
Oh and don’t forget, as an added bonus… you can get everything from pancakes to bratwurst in the surrounding market areas around the lodge. Bring on the treats!
4. Rekorderlig Cider’s new botanical range
And for when you can’t possibly drink anymore mulled cider, I’ve got the perfect solution for you. Try out some of their new Botanicals range. I’m in LOVE with the Grapefruit and Rosemary. It’s this super millennial pink colour and I’m really here for it.
The range of Botanicals isn’t officially out yet, but the lodge is the place to get a taste for what’s to come. I recommend it.
There you have it, in case you really needed another reason to get in the holiday spirit, I – and the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge – have got you covered.
So, get yourself down along the Southbank already and grab a mulled cider while you’re at it.

PS. This is a sponsored post in collaboration with my favourites over at Rekorderlig Cider. I’m a massive fan of them, and have been for a long time so as always my views, opinions and photos are my own. x
This looks so good! I love Rekorderligs warm ciders.

They’re so yummy! I’m obsessed with them year round now. 🙂
That mulled cider is the best! I’d never had it until this lodge but erm now it’s my go-to.
Isn’t it so good?! Now I’m craving it all over again…! xx
